Easter Weekend

I had an interesting Easter weekend this year. It started off by me NOT taking my kids to an Easter egg hunt my friends were doing at a park. They even had a special appearance by the Easter bunny. Unfortunately it took place during my tennis workout so I opted to go to that instead of taking my kids. I'm bad I know, but I figured Kaia is too young and I was going to do one for Cade on my own with Rob. So later on that day I went shopping for Easter clothes with my sister in law. Children's Place was out of the ties I wanted for Cade and I didn't really see anything that I had to have for Kaia. So Cade got no new church clothes and I had a spring skirt for Kaia that she hadn't worn yet. So I just went with that figuring I could get away with no Easter dress this year since she was still little. Saturday rolls around and I find out that I'm being released from the Relief Society Presidency and that a new Presidency will be called on Sunday. Suprised and sad. Then around 2am Sunday morning I wake up and throw up. I continue to throw up, fall asleep, wake up 10 minutes later and throw up more for the rest of the night. Sunday morning I can't get out of bed, so I don't go to church and miss being released and the last Sunday of my calling. I kept Rob up all night so he was exhausted and just went to church to teach Sunday School. He took Cade who was thrown in some church clothes and probably looked like an orphan child. The poor kids didn't even get their Easter egg hunt or their baskets packed- I just put everything on the couch in piles for them to "find". Even more sad that Cade was with me when I bought his pajamas and his 101 Dalmation movie for his basket and told him that the Easter bunny was going to come take it from mommy and put it in his basket for him. All I can say to myself is better luck next year!! Thank goodness Easter is really about our Savior and the Atonement and Resurrection. I'm really grateful for the gospel and the blessings in my life.

Mission Organization

Up to this point we held all our toys in and around this bucket that was overflowing in our basement. I was looking for the perfect toy organizer that was modern and sleek and would "look good" in our house. I finally broke down and bought this primary colors toy organizer that I've been resisting(due to the primary colors and unaesthetically pleasing shape) But I love it!! It's nice because it's tilted so you can see the toys without pulling or dumping it out. I really wish I had taken a before picture of our basement but I didn't. Basically every inch of floor was constantly covered in toys. And a huge love sack took up a 1/3 of his playing area. So we finally moved the love sack up to the loft and organized all the toys. Such a difference!(I'm a nerd but I love organizing things)










(The first day Cade did dump out all of the toys and carried the bins around and I kind of flipped. But we taught him to take out one at a time and promised we would get "play" bins for him. He loves containers!)

Mini Vacation

THE PACIFIC LIFE OPEN


It's becoming a tradition to go to Palm Springs every year and go the the Pacific Life Open tennis tournament. Rob's dad coaches the Timpview High School boys tennis team and Rob and his brother are assistant coaches. So they take the boys down to the tournament every year, and the wives join in on the fun! I love watching tennis just about as much as I love playing it. This vacation is practically all tennis day and night. (Well almost- Rob gets wiped out and doesn't like to do both day and night sessions, but I do so we're going to have to come up with some adjustments for next year)The girls did take a night to go to the amazing outlets. (Which one night was not near enough time so again more adjusting for next year) So with no kids, tennis all day, throw in some shopping and lounge around time, it's the perfect mini vacation getaway!!

Kaia stayed with my parents but the last day we had her back and took her to the tournament. We luckily found a little spot with shade in the stadium and occupied her with food and the contents of my purse so she would be quiet.

Cade stayed with his cousin Jaxson while were away and had a blast. They're best little buds. He keeps asking if he can go back and have a sleepover at Jaxson's house.

They took Cade to see the Horton Hears a Who movie. It was his first movie in the theatre! So of course I had them take a pic to mark the occasion.
